March News 2009

Our programme has been hit by the weather with our visit to the swimming pool at Crewkerne cancelled.

We did very well at the Battalion Swimming Competition - we took first place in the Junior Competition and also first place in the Company Section Competition.    We managed to win all the relays including the under 18's relay which was very impressive.  We are preparing for the Junior Section Competitions - which include football, unihoc, art, a quiz and public speaking being held at Yeovil College.

We will also be taking 12 boys to London for 2 days during the school half term - which is a new adventure for us all!!  The Boys' Brigade in Somerset has now set up a new website at http://somerset.boys-brigade.org.uk - do have a look.

Ian helped at the Christian Resources Exhibition held at Exeter where the BB had a stand and many new contacts were made. Perhaps this may result in a new BB group!

Please pray for us each Thursday that the Lord will guide us and keep us safe.

February News 2009

January has been a busy month with the boys having taken part in the Battalion Swimming Competition - held for the first time at Burnham-on-Sea.

This year we were able to enter our largest team yet.

We are also preparing for another first - a trip to London for two days. We have been invited to stay at Wallington Baptist Church near Croydon. We will be travelling by train with 11 boys and 3 leaders. We will be visiting the Imperial War Museum, the Science Museum including the IMAX to see a 3D film as well as taking in the sights.

Please pray for journeying mercies - we are away on 19th & 20th February. In March we will be preparing for the Junior Section Competitions Day at Yeovil College and also making "fire" on Ham Hill!

Please pray for the boys and leaders as we meet each Thursday and also for the Boys' Brigade throughout the United Kingdom in its 125th year.

PS. Our next "Church" Parade is on 1st March at 10.00 am in the Stoke Memorial Hall.

July News 2008

We welcome three new members; Harry who has joined the Juniors  and Matthew and Dan who have joined the Company Section.

During June we had a very good trip to the Sealife Centre at Weymouth. We travelled from Thornford Station near Yeovil to Weymouth by train. Then we walked along the seafront to the Sealife Centre and had a brilliant time there. On our way back to the railway station we stopped at the beach and the boys went in for a swim.

Thank you to Colleen who came along to help.
We have been out a lot on Ham Hill; we have had a blindfolded assault course and den building. We also had a great night playing 40-40!

We will be swimming at the Aqua Centre and also having a walk from Norton School followed by the presentation of awards. Our final evening will be games and a BBQ on Ham Hill.

We had a very good turnout to the Battalion Church Parade at Yeovil Baptist Church with two of our boys carrying the Battalion and Queens Colours through the streets of Yeovil.
Thank you to Colleen and Judy for their help and to our Treasurer for looking after the books.

We are looking forward to our annual camp in Swanage and hope for good weather. Please continue to pray that God will guide us in all we do and keep us safe.

May the boys discover more about our Lord Jesus.
