PRAYING FOR MIRACLES
Having just returned from my 7th trip to the Christian Orphanage for Girls in South India, I wanted to tell you about some of the awesome things that happened this time. My first visit was just three years ago after I felt God call me there. On arrival, we were taken into the Chapel and the girls sang to us. I was so overwhelmed with joy that I could not stop my tears coming. With the strong feeling of coming home, I had no doubt that here was where God wanted me to be. We were only there for 10 days but it was so hard to leave. I knew, God willing, I would return but felt that any subsequent trip would never feel quite as good as the first experience.
Well, I was wrong! Each trip has surpassed the previous and this trip was no exception… Before I left for India I heard that Ajay, the camera-cum-computer man there, and his family had been in a serious car accident. As well as other injuries, Ajay had lost one eye and the other eye had been cut into five pieces and he had not regained sight in it. He was very depressed. Everyone at the Centre is very fond of Ajay and was praying for him. He was moved to the local Hospital on Monday and Dr Job, the founder of the Orphanage, went to visit him. The consultant did not hold much hope of him ever regaining his sight. More prayers were said and some of the orphan girls fasted. Just two days later he could see enough to reach for a drink in front of himself. The doctor said this was not because of any medical treatment they had just done…
The following day, which was the day before I left, I spoke to Emily who had a brain tumour five years ago and became a Christian during that time. Emily was one of the girls who fasted while she was praying for Ajay. She started telling me about all the many answers to prayers she has had. Several women, who had not conceived a child for many years, did so after Emily started praying for them. So many people have been greatly blessed because of her suffering. Indeed, the faith of so many at the Centre is such that even when they pray for miracles to happen, they believe that their prayers will be answered. Spending time with such brothers and sisters in Christ, who put Jesus first in their daily life, enables you to walk much closer with Him too. Our vocabulary has not words to express how good that feels!!

Representing the Michael Job Centre
for orphan girls in India
The PCC had a very nice and informative letter thanking us for our donation of £800.
Our support is much needed and valued, particularly as Dr Job felt called to take in 150 more girls. (They came from Orissa where there was much violence against Christians in 2008 and 2009.) Fortunately an extension to the girls’ hostel meant there was sufficient accommodation, but with such a large increase in numbers - 351 to 501- they brought with them a significant financial demand for food, clothes, education and medical facilities. God has amazingly provided so much for these helpless girls, but the need is great.
There is a shortage of staff which means incredible pressure is put on some staff, volunteers and older girls. So there is much for us to pray for.
